MAYVILLE-Paul Harland Wood, 87, of Mayville, died Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk, NY.

He was born October 16, 1931 in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Harland and Frances Johnson Wood.

Paul was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War.

He had been a supervisor for the New York State DOT in Mayville.

Paul was a life member of the Mayville VFW Post 8647, a member of the Mayville American Legion, William L. Travis Post 493, and the Westfield Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 118.

He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, and was an avid target shooter.

Paul is survived by his wife; Selma Northrop Wood, whom he married on July 2, 1955 at the Mayville United Methodist Church, three daughters; Joette (Randy) Henderson of Hartfield, NY, Arlene Ann (Luis) Morales of Hialeah, FL, and Bonnie (Mark) Webster of King, NC, five grandchildren; Kristin (Sam) Edla, Paul Floccari, Courtney Webster, Ashley (David) Rice, and Dylan Webster, five great grandchildren; Silas and Winston Edla, Sophia Grace Floccari, Alec Mitchell, and Andrew Rice, and two siblings; Lois Sanderson and Ronald Wood.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral will be held at 12PM (noon) Saturday December 29, 2018 at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends for 2 hours prior to the service from 10AM to 12PM at the funeral home.
