MAYVILLE- Pauline "Paula" Eleanor Veakins, 79, of Mayville, died Thursday, September 19, 2019 at her home, with family by her side.

She was born June 7, 1940 in Reading, England, the daughter of the late John Nugent and Alice (Maurice Jones) Nugent.

Paula had worked as an Executive Secretary for Getty Oil Company, in Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa.

She enjoyed cooking, needle point, knitting, ballet dancing, Jeopardy, watching tennis and the New York Yankees, and time with her family. She was a strong willed, intelligent and hard working woman who instilled those values in her children and grandchildren.

Paula is survived by two daughters; Sharron (Jim) Oleniacz of Marshfield, Missouri, Michele (Troy) Kasperek of Forestville, NY, one son: Antony Veakins of Albany, NY, six grandchildren; James Caloren, Stephanie (Chris) Burgstrom, Brandon (Kacey) and Tika Veakins, and Derek and Lily Kasperek, five great grandchildren; Zachary and Joshua Burgstrom, Mason and Connor Veakins  and Brooklyn Caloren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Memorial service will be held at 4:00PM on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S. Erie St). The Rev. Daniel Prewitt will officiate.
