Richard "Dick" Albanesius, 88, of Dewittville, NY passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023, quietly and at peace.

Dick was born in his family home on Dinsbier Road in Mayville, NY February 28th, 1935. The son of Ella Rice and Walter Christian Albanesius.

He was a kind and humble man who would do anything for anyone and never asked nor expected anything in return.  He enjoyed a simple life and getting together with family and his second 'cottage family' at Mud Lake in Forestville. These were his happiest times. He was always ready to sit down and share a cup of coffee, a story, lend a listening ear - he always had a solution ready for any problem.

Dick started working in high school for Van Atters Chautauqua Maid Malted Milk in Mayville and through hard work and dedication opened his own business in Dewittville - Lakeview Auto Body. Being self-employed allowed him to get his children up, get them dressed, feed them breakfast, pack their lunches and on the school bus each morning - as his wife worked in the early morning as an RN at Westfield Memorial Hospital. When the kids were old enough, he took a position at Chautauqua Central School where after a long successful career he retired.

He was a lifetime member of the Dewittville Volunteer Fire Department and the Chautauqua Lake Region AACA. Dick enjoyed snowmobiling, watching his son race at Stateline Speedway, antique cars, camping, walking the grounds of the Carlise and Hershey flea markets, time with old friends and most of all time spent with family playing cards, making omelets for everyone, and just being together.

Dick is survived by his best friend and wife of 65 years Susan Stewart Albanesius, children Dale Albanesius, Donna (Ron) Crandall, David (Lisa) Albanesius, grandchildren Ryan Crandall, Kory (Racquel) Crandall, Kyle (Emilee) Crandall, Austin Albanesius, Ashton (Cody) Bird, Ariana Albanesius, great-grandchildren Roland, Charlotte & Layla Bird, Eliana Crandall, Lucy Crandall and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother Ella, father Walter and sisters Bernice, EllaMae and Clara.

Dick wore many titles, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a man who thought about others first. In lieu of flowers or traditional donation his wish would be that you pay it forward. Give and ask nothing in return, a simple kindness to a neighbor or stranger, help someone in need, tell someone you appreciate them and most importantly spend time with your family.
