ASHVILLE-Sanford "Sandy" B. Cheney. 80 of Ashville, and formerly of Hamburg, died, Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at his home in Ashville.
He was born December 17, 1936 in Lackawanna, NY, the son of the late Warren and Leah Briggs Cheney.
Sandy had been an Industrial Engineer with Worthington Corporation in Buffalo.
He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during the Korean War.
Sandy was a charter member of the Canadian/American Sledders, the Ellery Center VFW Post 557, the American Legion Herman Kent Post 777 in Celeron, the American Legion Ira Lou Spring Post 149 in Jamestown, and the Lakewood Conservation Club.
He enjoyed sailing on Lake Erie, hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle, having visited 26 states and all of the eastern provinces of Canada.
Sandy is survived by his wife, Barbara Slawson Cheney, whom he married April 11, 1958 in Hamburg, NY, a sister; Lucinda Iddings of FL, a special niece; Colleen Cheney of South Buffalo, and several more nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
