MAYVILLE- Sarah Foster, 102, of Mayville, died peacefully Saturday, July 29, 2017.
She was born April 25, 1915 in Castlecomer, Ireland, the daughter of the late Patrick and Mary Williams Hetherington.
Sarah had been a housewife. She enjoyed activities with the North Harmony Senior Citizens, being an RSVP volunteer, her pets, especially her dog, Buffy, and time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter; Ann (Kent) Akin of Mayville, a daughter-in-law; Mary Johanna of Elmira, five grandchildren; Hannah and Nick Akin, John, William and Mary Foster, and many nieces and nephews in the US and Ireland.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband; T. Joseph Foster, whom she married May 6, 1950 in Danbury, CT, a son; Dr. Edward Foster, ten sisters and two brothers.
Friends will be received from 4-7pm on Friday, August 4, 2017 at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 2pm, at the St. Mary of Lourdes RC Church in Mayville. Father Todd Remick will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hoosick Falls, NY.
