ASHVILLE - Susan Marilyn Keller Crandall, 67, of Ashville, passed away unexpectedly on April 17, 2023, at UPMC Chautauqua Hospital in Jamestown, NY.

Sue was born January 4, 1956, in Mineola, NY, the daughter of the late Richard and Doris Bahnsen Keller.

Sue grew up on Long Island, graduated in 1974 from Cold Spring Harbor High School and earned a degree in Environmental Sciences from Paul Smiths College in the Adirondacks in 1976. She married Mike Crandall in 1977 and moved to Chautauqua County.

Sue was a passionate nature and animal lover and had been a member of the Jamestown Audubon Society for over forty years. She taught at the JOY Center Preschool in Panama for a decade and enjoyed seeing her students grow up over the years. Anyone who was fortunate enough to know Sue thought she was the most kind, loving and generous person. Of all things in her life, Sue's favorite roles were Mom and Grandma, and she happened to be the very BEST at both.

Sue is survived by her husband, Michael Crandall, whom she married June 4, 1977, in New Hartford, CT, two children: Heather (David) Cofer of Ashville, NY, and Dustin (Stacey) Crandall of Morgantown, WV, three grandchildren: Natalie, Porter and Molly, cousins: Eric (Valerie) Crampton, and Ella (Bob) Knox, brothers in law: John (Terri) Crandall and Joe (Patti) Crandall, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

At Sue's request, there will be no public services observed. A private celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family.
