MAYVILLE- Thomas "Tom" Paul Crandall, 53, of Mayville passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, December 20, 2021.

He was born March 12, 1968 in Westfield, NY the son of the late Leonard T. and Mary Beck Crandall.

Tom was a graduate of Mayville Central School class of 1987. He had worked as a landscaper for Westfield Nursery before becoming disabled.

He had been a member of the Mayville Fire Department for fifteen years, was a Chautauqua County Fire Police member, and a previous Captain of the Mayville Fire Police. He had also been a member of the P.O.N.Y. Association, the Chautauqua County Horsemen's Association, the Western NY Quarter Horse Association, and the Empire State Quarter Horse Association.

Tom was also instrumental in the family farm: J and T Quarter Horses.   As a family they raised and had successfully shown many Quarter Horses.   Both locally and throughout the tri state area.   Tom was always the first to step up and show the young horses.   His greatest accomplishment was his mare Shelbe a Countess.   He was very proud of his horses and had the attitude to place in blue in all his classes.  He was also proud to lead other family horses into the ring, such as Jacks Rambling Man, Daddy's Elegant Rose and Roses Brief Encounter.  Tom also loved his dogs Hoover, the Rottweiler, and Clifford, the Great Pyrenees.

Tom enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Buffalo Bills, old Godzilla movies and all the NCIS shows.   He also enjoyed his Lottery tickets, his cats and hunting.

Tom loved to cook.  Making some pretty awesome meals.  He loved to ride four wheelers and going to car shows.  He was also instrumental in initiating and running the annual Donuts with Santa and Easter Egg Hunt run by the Mayville Fire Department.

He is survived by his sister and best friend; Janet Crandall of Mayville, a brother; Mike Howard of TX, his aunt; Patricia Beck of Wellsville, NY, two cousins; Linda (Fredrick) Degolier of Cassadaga, and Julie (Rob Mack) Rizzo of Wellsville, NY, his adopted mother; Mary Hallmark of Fredonia, NY and his faithful canine companions; Lenny and Squiggy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an uncle, John Beck.

All services will be private at this time. A celebration of life will be held in the summer at the convenience of the family and will be announced.
