ASHVILLE – Thomas W. Gooch, 57, of Ashville, New York died Wednesday (Nov. 9, 2016) surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 30, 1959 in Jamestown, NY the son of Thomas W. Gooch and the late Priscilla Erickson Wilson.

Tom was a veteran of the US Navy.

Tom was the owner and operator of Gooch Distributing for 26 years.

He was an avid motorcycle rider, a fan of the New York Mets, and Buffalo Bills. He enjoyed buying and selling various things, and enjoyed old cars. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his father, Thomas W. (Inge) Gooch of Lakewood; wife, Kathleen Zanghi Gooch whom he married June 25, 1989 in Mayville; two children, George M. (Heather) Gooch of Cincinnati, OH, and Meghan E. (Scott) Price of Greensboro, NC; two grandchildren, Sophia and Charlotte "Charlie" Gooch of Cincinnati; 5 siblings, Wendy (Scott) Chase of Randolph, Kimberly (Jamie) O'Connell of Sarasota, FL, Mark (Tonia) Wilson of Randolph, Lisa (Loren) Hogan of Berlin, NH, and Brenda (Richard) Vanderpol of Orlando, FL; 8 nieces and nephews, Kayleane and Lindsey Chase, Alyse Davis, Brooke and Blake Vanderpol, Robert Benson, and Jamie and Kyle O'Connell; a great niece and great nephew, Donovan Patterson and Celena Davis.

He was preceded in death by his mother Priscilla Wilson and a sister, Michelle Benson.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday in the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville. Rev. Steven Taylor of the Panama United Methodist Church will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Saturday and from 2 to 3 pm Sunday prior to the funeral on Sunday. Also, immediately following the funeral, family will host a gathering at the American Legion in Mayville, NY.
