DEWITTVILLE – Virgil J. Miller, 81, of 6277 Hartfield -Stockton Road, Dewittville, died Tuesday (April 8, 2014) in Hamot Medical Center in Erie, PA.

He was born November 29, 1932 in Tonawanda, NY the son of the late Anthony and Luella Sweitzer Miller.

Virgil had been a Foreman for the New York State Department of Transportation in Mayville for 37 years.

He was a former member of Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department, he was a volunteer driver for The Love Run, and he had been a volunteer with rebuilding homes as disaster relief.

Virgil was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, he loved woodworking, roller-skating, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Lake Miller whom he married August 17, 1952 in Oneida, NY; his children, Virginia Canfield of Gowanda, NY, Donald (Terry) Miller of Mayville, Karen Seekings of Jamestown, Lynne (Paul) Kruse of Bemus Point, and Amy (Kevin) Brush of Olean, NY; grandchildren, Shawn Canfield, Gretchen Canfield, Mona Miller, Morgan Majkowski, Trevor Miller, Christina Terry, Stephanie O'Hara, David Seekings, Andrew Carlson, Christopher Kruse, Matthew Brush, and Jeffrey Brush.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Miller; and his siblings, Robert, Margaret, and Anthony.

The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday (April 12 ^th ) in the Mayville Cemetery. Rev. Dana Vaughn will officiate.

Memorials may be made to Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department.
