MAYVILLE – William L. "Spud" Carlson, 59, of Webber Road, Mayville, died Saturday (Nov. 29, 2014) in his home.

Bill was born April 14, 1955 in Jamestown the son of Eloise Clay Carlson Putnam and the late John V. Carlson.

He owned and operated Chautauqua Power Sports in Mayville.

He was a member of the Westfield Moose #118.

Bill enjoyed snowmobiling, 4 wheeling, doing carpentry, Lawnmower and Tractor pulling, racing, and he loved his grandchildren.

He is survived by his mother, Eloise Carlson Putnam; three daughters, Victoria Carlson (Joey), Kelly Carlson (Stephen), and Christine Carlson; eight grandchildren, Kayelynn, Jenna, Jacob, Alivia, Makenzie, Daniel, Lillyann Graham and Greyson Carlson; one brother Stephen K. (Melodie) Carlson; and his loyal and faithful dog Sadie.

Besides his father he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Claudine Clay; and his paternal grandparents, August and Florence Carlson.

The funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday in the Freay Funeral Home, Mayville. Rev. Carolyn Stow will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday, prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
