BROCTON – William R. Hanson Sr, 81, a longtime resident of Brocton, NY passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014.

Bill was born on July 28, 1932 in the Chautauqua area and was the son of Alison "Babe" Hanson and Harold Hanson.

Bill has three surviving brothers Ted Hanson of Mayville, NY, Joe Hanson of Alberton, MT, Donald Hanson of Fedora, SD, seven children, LaWanda Shaughnessy of Oregon, William Hanson Jr of Florida, Randall Hanson of Florida, Brian Hanson of North Carolina, Michelle Hanson of California, Emily Hanson of Brocton, NY, Wilson Hanson of Brocton, NY and four grandchildren, Jill Ten Hagen of Oregon, Hannah Hanson of Florida, Madison Hanson of Florida and Jake Hanson of Florida.

In addition to his parents Bill was preceded in death by his brother Fred Hanson and son John Hanson.

Bill worked throughout the country for E.R. Dotterweich Sound Systems and ran his own local businesses for many years. He enjoyed travelling, practical jokes, storytelling and finding a good deal on anything mechanical.

The family will receive friends at Freay Funeral Home in Mayville on Tuesday April 29 ^th at 3 pm then gather at the American Legion at 4 pm in Mayville, NY.
