ASHVILLE – William W. "Bill" Morton, 66, of Stow Road, Ashville, died Monday (June 1, 2015) at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing.
He was born August 9, 1948 in Jamestown, NY. He was the son of the late Allan Roland and Jeanette Herman Morton.
Bill was a veteran of the US Navy and a graduate of Riverside School of Aeronautics in Utica, NY. Bill spent most of his career as a machine operator at Cummins Engine (JEP) in Lakewood.
He was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and The National Wildlife Federation.
Bill enjoyed hunting, golf, camping, baking, and anything outdoors. He also enjoyed classic cars, including his El Camino, reading about history, particularly WWII, and he loved his Hot Fudge Sundays with Spanish Peanuts.
He is survived by his wife, Jane S. Hansen Morton, whom he married September 17, 1977 in Chautauqua Institution; two children, Heather M. (Jacob) Brock of Jamestown, and Christopher P. Morton of Williamsville, NY; one granddaughter, Mikayla Brock of Jamestown; and one brother, Jon (Patricia) Morton of Ashville.
He was preceded in death by one son, Peter William Morton, who died December 30, 1986.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery. No visitation will be observed.
Bill's family would like him to be remembered as a hardworking man who continually put others before himself. A true family man, what Bill was most proud of was the life he was able to build for his wife and children.
